Houston World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest

We had a chance again this year to head out to one of the world's largest BBQ competitions and record with some fantastic pit-masters.

If you’re a fan of barbecue, then you’ve likely heard of the Houston World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest. An annual event that’s been going strong since 1974, the contest attracts over 250 teams from around the world and has drawn in over 150,000 visitors in just the last year.The Houston World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest started out as a way to bring together the local barbecue community in Houston, Texas. It was created by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Association, with the first official competition taking place in 1974.

Since then, the event has grown exponentially. Teams from all over the world come to compete in the various competitions, vying to be crowned the best barbecue chef in the world. From brisket to ribs to chicken, the competition is a showcase of the best in BBQ world.

And with the many categories and divisions, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The Houston World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest is more than just a fun event. It’s also a way to bring the barbecue community together and provide support to those in need. The event raises money for local charities and scholarships, helping to promote the barbecue culture in Houston and beyond.
